HIS Coffee Shop was the host of the January monthly coffee. Owners Terry and Patty Sherman opened the faith based coffee shop several months ago as a service to the community. They wanted a safe place for people to congregate to enjoy fellowship, food, and friendship.
Along with great coffee, soft drinks, and snack items, their establishment serves as a relaxing gathering place for visitors. The front portion of the store is filled with jewelry, pictures, and unique gift items. The coffee bar includes a lit cross as the cornerstone of its construction. The rear portion features a stage and handpainted mural. Terry, Patty and their family remodeled the interior themselves and it looks very nice! Surrounding the stage are tables and comfortable furniture. They have shelves of books and board games that visitors are encouraged to use and enjoy.
They regularly have live music and jam sessions that are open to the public. Their space has also been used for family gatherings, meetings, and baby showers.
Patty and Terry both work full time and are still in the process of getting their hours adjusted to meet the needs of our residents. Their current hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday 9:00am - 6:00pm. Through February, they may be open additional dates upon request. They are located at 531 Main Street.
They also help manage the adjacent building and apartments above. There is even a set of interior doors connecting them to the Saturday Store next door. Through an agreement with that owner, customers may access and shop the Saturday Store whenever HIS is open.
Sixteen people attended this event and enjoyed the coffee, snacks and networking. Pat Fagan of First Option Bank was the lucky winner of the door prize- a $10 Gift certificate. Please stop in and patronize this great addition to our community!
This Saturday, February 4th at 4:00pm, Michael Teter and Music by 'Unscene' will be featured. Michael was inspired by God while doing a 10 year sentence in Lansing. God was revealed to Michael in a powerful way and has performed a miracle in his life. Michael strives to share this good news with anyone that will listen.
February's coffee will be at the Miami County YMCA on February 14th, 9:00am. Stop by and congratulate them on their 5 Year Anniversary! Network with other members and neighbors while enjoying refreshments. Door prizes will be offered. |

Hosting a Coffee | | |
Hosting a monthly coffee is an easy way to share information on your business with other Chamber members and potential customers. Typically held the second Tuesday of the month, the host business provides coffee, snacks, and a door prize.
We advertise it for you and encourage our members to attend. At the coffee, you are encouraged to share whatever information you'd like about your business. We follow up by sharing this same information under the "Business Spotlight" section of the monthly newsletter.
Coffees can also be held at the Chamber Office. We can provide the refreshments if needed, also. The time and date can be adjusted to work with your schedule.
If you'd like to host, please contact the Chamber Office. We have openings beginning in April. |
Legislative Breakfast | | |
Osawatomie's Legislative Breakfast will be held Saturday, February 18th in the High School Cafeteria. Beginning at 7:00am, enjoy a buffet style breakfast followed by a Q & A Session with our Legislators.

This event is sponsored by First Option Bank, Midwest Reginal Credit Union, Landmark Bank, Agler & Gaeddert, Great Southern Bank, Moon's Hometown Market, and the Chamber of Commerce. Everyone is invited.

| Quarterly Membership Meeting | | |
The first Quarterly Membership Meeting of the Year was held on January 19th at Whistle Stop. Ten people were in attendance and had the chance to meet Nick Marchi of KWJP 89.7 Eagle One-Postive Country Radio. They are live every morning from 6-9am, and again in the afternoon from 3-7pm. They play a wide range of positive music in between.
This NFP, 24-7 station is based in Paola and has a wide range of coverage in our area. They went on the air last summer and their listener base continues to grow. That has created advertising opportunities that more and more businesses are taking advantage of.
Nick is interested in promoting all Miami County communities and shared ideas of broadcasting the highschool football "game of the week", broadcasting live from community events, and airing political debates during this election year, if there is interest in doing so. For the record, they are prohibited from endorsing any particular candidate or party.
Their office is located at 907 Pearl Street in Paola. They welcome visitors and will be happy to answer any questions or discuss advertising rates with you. Reach them at 913-294-5957 or kwjpinfo@gmail.com. The website is www.KWJP897.com |
