Anna January Park
Located at 10th Street and South Street.
The park was originally called South Park, as it is located on the southern side of town. In 2009 two Girl Scouts, names Trinzy Rhodes and Sila Fox, renovated the park and campaigned within the community to change the name to Anna January Park.
Anna January was a teacher in Osawatomie for 3 years, a leader of Monday Cub for 2 years, and Post Mistress from 1922 to 1932. Anna worked with the Women's Relief Corp selling small paper flowers and holding bake sales to raise enough money to buy the local battlegrounds and turn it into a city park. She helped to have that park designated as a historical site (now the John Brown Park)

Unfortunately, by 2020 the park was in need of another make over. This time it was by a local Boy Scout, Chris Daggett, as his Eagle Scout project. When Chris presented his playground restoration project to City Council, they were happy to give their approval and even awarded him $2,000 in funding.
In typical small town fashion, that was just the beginning of the local support.
-
The lumber yard paid for the initial supplies and also donated $200.
-
A local police officer donated a new backboard and basketball hoop.
-
Teachers from the local school district donated $300.
-
A local farm goods store donated paint and other supplies.
-
The Osawatomie Historical Society donated a plaque to commemorate the parks namesake.
On October 24, 2020 the city hosted a community wide rededication ceremony to re-open the park.

The park host a covered picnic area, a basketball net, and play equipment.
